ENPI CBC MED Programme

The multilateral cross-border cooperation "Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme" is part of the new European  Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) and of its financing instrument (European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument - ENPI) for the 2007-2013 period: it aims at reinforcing cooperation between the European Union (EU) and partner countries regions placed along the shores of the Mediterranean Sea.

 

The Operational Programme, approved on August 14th 2008 by European Commission decision C (2008) 4242, establishes a strategic framework of 4 Priorities jointly defined by the participating countries::

 

  • Promotion of socio-economic development and enhancement of territories.
  • Promotion of environmental sustainability at basin level.
  • Promotion of better conditions and modalities for ensuring the mobility of persons, goods and capitals.
  • Promotion of cultural dialogue and local governance.

 

Projects Funded under the Second Standard Call:



The second call for standard projects was published in December 2011 tackling all 4 Programme Priorities and 10 related Measures. This last call under the 2007-2013 period witnessed a huge participation with 1095 proposals submitted. Further to a two-step selection procedure, 39 projects have been awarded.



The CNRS-Lebanon is a partner is 4 running Projects under Priority 2 & Priority 4, as follows:

 

Priority 2 Promotion of environmental sustainability at the basin level.

 

Measure 2.1 Prevention and reduction of risk factors for the environment and enhancement of natural common heritage.

 

  • Generating a Risk and Ecological Analysis Toolkit for the Mediterranean (GREAT Med)
  • Risk Monitoring, Modelling and Mitigation of benthic Harmful Algal Blooms along Mediterranean coasts (M3-HABs)

 

Priority 4 Promotion of cultural dialogue and local governance

 

Measure 4.3 Improvement of the governance processes at local level

 

  • Improving the local governance processes through exchange of good practices, pilots and training in geospatial technologies (LOCAL-SATS)
  • WATER Development Resources Opportunity Policies for the water management in semi-arid areas (WATER-Drop)
